I specialize in the history of Imperial (Tsarist) Russia. My areas of interest include Russian populism, radicalism, terrorism, underground activism, urban space, national identity and landscape aesthetics.

I teach European history and world history, mostly of the modern period. Some of the classes I teach are Revolution in Europe, The History of Terrorism, The City and its Underground, Russian History, European Intellectual History and The HIstory of Food and Eating.

I am a distance runner, mostly 5k and 10k events. I play electric and acoustic guitar, enjoy cooking, gardening, foreign languages and travel, and I am a pretty accomplished bird watcher out in the field, but I mostly watch the two parrots I have at home.
